FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — It took Inter Miami four years, but finally the South Florida side has started an MLS regular season with a victory.
Inter Miami debutants Sergii Kryvtsov and Shanyder Borgelin scored on each side of halftime, and their strikes propelled Phil Neville’s men to a 2-0 win over CF Montreal at Drv Pnk Stadium in Week 1 of the new campaign.
Kryvtsov scored four minutes before halftime, bundling home a corner kick that was flicked towards the back post by Inter Miami captain Gregore. Borgelin tallied shortly after entering the match as a substitute, cleaning up his own rebound with a low effort.
Inter Miami goalkeeper Drake Callender was also vital in the shutout triumph, coming up with four big stops and six saves overall to record the cleansheet.
La Rosanegra next takes on the Philadelphia Union at home on March 4.
