2023 MLS Regular Season: Inter Miami 2-2 Charlotte FC
Lionel Messi watched on from a field-level suite as the South Florida side's winless run across all competitions stretched to six games
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Inter Miami twice came from behind in its 2023 home finale, but still could not find a way to snap the season-ending winless run that had already cost the team a spot in the playoffs.
Nicolas Stefanelli and Robbie Robinson scored late equalizers on each side of halftime, and that was as good as it got for Inter Miami in a 2-2 home stalemate with Charlotte FC on Wednesday night. The visitors twice took the lead at Drv Pnk Stadium through finishes from Enzo Copetti and Kerwin Vargas, but goals from Stefanelli six minutes into first half stoppage time and Robinson in the 84th left the two sides to share the spoils.
The result at Drv Pnk Stadium, which marked the return of midfielder Gregore while Lionel Messi watched on from a field-level suite, moved Inter Miami to 9-7-17 on the year. The already-eliminated Herons stayed in 14th place in the Eastern Conference with the tie, and are now winless in their last six matches across all competitions.
Inter Miami’s regular season finale will take place on Saturday, with La Rosanegra visiting Charlotte FC in a rematch at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
