2023 MLS Regular Season: Inter Miami 1-1 Austin FC
The South Florida side remained winless in eight consecutive league matches after trading early second-half goals with the visitors
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The historic losing streak is over, but the winless run is not.
Inter Miami snapped its run of seven consecutive defeats on Saturday night by playing to a 1-1 stalemate with visiting Austin FC at Drv Pnk Stadium. Herons striker Josef Martinez and Austin FC right back Nick Lima traded goals early in the second half as Inter Miami’s unprecedented string of league games without a victory stretched to eight under the watchful eyes of incoming new head coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino.
The draw, Inter Miami’s first of the MLS season, left the South Florida side in last place in the Eastern Conference. La Rosanegra sits on 16 points, 10 shy of the final playoff spot, via a 5-1-13 record.
Inter Miami returns to the field on Tuesday night, hosting the Columbus Crew in a July 4 affair.
