2023 MLS Regular Season: Inter Miami 2-2 D.C. United
The South Florida side's unprecedented winless run extended to 10 games despite Benjamin Cremaschi and Noah Allen giving the team two separate leads
Inter Miami took two separate leads on Saturday, but could not hold onto either of them as the team’s historic winless run continued.
Academy players Benjamin Cremaschi and Noah Allen twice put Inter Miami in front in the second half, but D.C. United responded both times to finish in a 2-2 draw at Audi Field in Washington, D.C., on Saturday night. Cremaschi and Allen scored their first MLS goals nine minutes apart, but the hosts found equalizers through Taxi Fountas and Nigel Robertha to split the spoils.
The stalemate, Inter Miami’s third straight tie, left the South Florida side in last place in the Eastern Conference with a 5-3-13 record. Inter Miami is eight points shy of the final playoff spot.
The Herons will next visit expansion team St Louis City SC at City Park in St Louis, Missouri, on July 15 in what is expected to be Gerardo ‘Tata'‘ Martino’s first game as Inter Miami head coach.
