CF Montreal 3-1 Inter Miami
A nightmare start saw Inter Miami lose in what may have been Gonzalo Higuain's final home game with the team
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Inter Miami entered its regular season finale on a high after qualifying for the playoffs in emphatic fashion four days earlier, but CF Montreal spoiled the party and what was likely the last home game of Gonzalo Higuain’s career.
A nightmare first half doomed Inter Miami to defeat on a rainy Sunday afternoon, as CF Montreal scored three goals before the intermission to hand the South Florida side a 3-1 loss at Drv Pnk Stadium. Djordje MIhailovic and Lassi Lappalainen both found the back of the net in the opening eight minutes, and that paced the Canadian team to victory.
The result combined with outside results on the final day of the league campaign in MLS dropped Inter Miami into sixth place in the Eastern Conference, meaning the Herons will travel to play No. 3 seed New York City FC in the first round of the postseason.
