Inter Miami has its first goals of the preseason. Inter Miami has its first win of the preseason.
Sources have told Miami Total Futbol that Inter Miami prevailed in its second exhibition of 2023, beating Florida International University, 4-1, in a closed-doors friendly played at Florida Blue Training Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Wednesday morning.
Leonardo Campana led the way in the match vs. the local collegiate team, bagging a second-half brace while Jake La Cava scored a goal in the opening 45 minutes. La Rosanegra’s other tally came via an FIU own goal in the second stanza.
As was the case in this past weekend’s defeat to Vasco da Gama, Inter Miami fielded distinct lineups in each half against the Panthers. Head coach Phil Neville’s projected substitutes started in the first half that ended in a 1-1 stalemate before the presumed starters stepped onto the field after halftime to make the difference.
The Herons, who are now 1-0-1 in their 2023 tune-ups with a 0 goal differential, next play St Louis City SC in a friendly at the same training facility on Saturday evening.
