Inter Miami 1-0 Columbus Crew
Inter Miami used a first-half finish from Gonzalo Higuain to move within two points of a playoff spot
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The playoffs are within touching distance at long last.
Inter Miami moved two points shy of the red line in the Eastern Conference on Saturday night after using a first-half Gonzalo Higuain goal to defeat the Columbus Crew, 1-0, at Drv Pnk Stadium. Higuain’s decisive finish came in the 16th minute, as the star striker pounced on an errant back pass in the Crew’s defensive third before racing forward to hit a soft chip that found the back of the net.
The narrow win extended the South Florida side’s current unbeaten run to five games and gave Inter Miami a franchise record third straight cleansheet. The Herons have also lost only once in their last 10 matches.
