Inter Miami 1-0 New England Revolution
Blaise Matuidi's first goal of the year lifted the South Florida side to an upset win over the Supporters' Shield winners in the regular season finale
Inter Miami may not be playoff bound, but the team is headed into the offseason on a winning note.
Blaise Matuidi scored a second-half goal and that proved enough for Inter Miami in a stunning 1-0 road victory over the New England Revolution on Sunday. Matuidi’s first tally of the year came in the 58th minute of the regular season finale against the 2021 Supporters’ Shield champions, and a determined defense helped ensure the upset win.
While the result at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, ended the South Florida side’s campaign in a more positive manner, Inter Miami finished the year in 11th place in the Eastern Conference. The team went 12-17-5, falling seven points shy of the final playoff spot.
