Inter Miami surrendered a late equalizer to Derrick Etienne on Saturday afternoon and was forced split the spoils in a 1-1 draw with the Columbus Crew in the opener of the 2022 Carolina Challenge Cup. Ariel Lassiter had broke the deadlock earlier in the second half of the friendly played in Charleston, South Carolina, but Etienne scored on his own rebound in the 87th.
The South Florida side, which gave up two late goals to fall 2-1 to CF Montreal a week ago, is now 1-1-3 this preseason. The lone victory came via a 4-0 rout of Peruvian side Universitario.
