Inter Miami 3-0 Toronto FC
Inter Miami ended its losing and scoreless streaks in fashion by posting a convincing home win on Wednesday night
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The scoreless skid is finally over. So too is the winless run.
Inter Miami at last snapped a record-tying losing streak on Wednesday night, routing Toronto FC to the tune of 3-0 at Drv Pnk Stadium. Federico Higuain rifled the winner in after just 10 minutes to give the team its first tally in five games, and Christian Makoun doubled the advantage just before halftime by scoring the Herons’ first goal from a corner kick this season.
Another corner in the second half led to an own goal from Eriq Zavalata, a tally that punctuated the victory that ended Inter Miami’s six-game skid.
The win moved the South Florida side to 35 points on the season, just six points shy of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with four matches left in the season after both D.C. United and New York City FC suffered losses on a busy night of MLS action on Wednesday.
