Inter Miami 3-2 Charlotte FC
The South Florida side grabbed a last-gasp win after erasing a two-goal deficit with three unanswered tallies in the second half
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Inter Miami endured its latest weather delay and another slow start, but a strong second half saw the South Florida side rally to a thrilling victory.
Inter Miami erased a two-goal, first-half deficit by scoring three goals after halftime to defeat Charlotte FC, 3-2, at Drv Pnk Stadium on Saturday night. Yordy Reyna had put the visitors ahead with a brace that included a 26-second opener, but Robert Taylor, Gonzalo Higuain, and Emerson Rodriguez each scored to give Inter Miami the three points.
Rodriguez capped the stirring comeback in stoppage time, collecting a 93rd-minute pass from Bryce Duke and hitting a shot that had just enough power to get past Charlotte FC goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina.
Taylor had sparked the comeback in the 59th minute with a mazy dribbling run down the right flank that ended with a clinical finish to the far post. Higuain then came off the bench to score the equalizer 13 minutes later, racing onto a looped pass from Gregore before controlling the ball and finishing with authority.
The win that marked Alejandro Pozuelo’s debut with Inter Miami improved the Herons to 6-9-5 on the season while pushing them into ninth place in the Eastern Conference.
