Inter Miami 3-2 New York City FC
Alejandro Pozuelo bagged a brace as the South Florida side pulled off its latest comeback
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Another game, another Inter Miami comeback.
Inter Miami once again demonstrated its penchant for late drama on Saturday night, using an 84th-minute goal from Alejandro Pozuelo to edge New York City FC, 3-2, at Drv Pnk Stadium. Pozuelo bagged a brace in the game that saw the South Florida side fall behind twice, but the team rallied to extend its current unbeaten run to four games.
The Spanish playmaker canceled out NYCFC’s first go-ahead goal and opened his Inter Miami scoring account in the first half. Ariel Lassiter then came off the bench to author another equalizer in the 63rd minute, opening the door for Pozuelo to win it late after pouncing on an errant back pass.
The victory moved Inter Miami to 33 points, pushing Phil Neville’s men above the playoff line and in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with nine games remaining in the season.
