Inter Miami Player Ratings: Gregore among few respectable showings in lopsided loss to Crew
There were not many positive individual performances in Saturday's 4-0 defeat to the Columbus Crew
Add another blowout defeat to Inter Miami’s dreadful season.
Inter Miami was on the receiving end of a lopsided result yet again after getting hammered by the Columbus Crew to the tune of 4-0 this past Saturday. The Herons put forth an overall demoralizing display in the road loss that further sunk the team, with very few players enjoying even respectable performance levels.
Gregore was among the ones to save face with a decent showing, but the majority of the South Florida side had a night to forget. From the likes of Gonzalo Higuain to Blaise Matuidi to Robbie Robinson, Inter Miami was littered with poor solo outings in this one.
Here are the Inter Miami Player Ratings after the rout vs. the Crew:
Nick Marsman (4.5) — Was probably a step or two too far off his line on the opener, but could not do much on the other three goals and passed well.
Lewis Morgan (5) — Lacked some sharpness while still buzzing around with his usual high energy, especially once he was moved into his more natural winger spot late.
Leandro Gonzalez Pirez (4) — Very involved defensively, but was beaten to the ball on the third tally before scoring a poor own goal that punctuated the defeat.
Kelvin Leerdam (4.5) — Solid at doing his job in the middle of the back five aside from on the opener in which he failed to challenge the leaping Gyasi Zardes.
Christian Makoun (4.5) — Started well before struggling a bit during the second half, including when he pulled himself out of position in the lead-up to the third strike.
Sami Guediri (4.5) — Effective getting forward to provide an attacking threat on the left, but gave too much time and space on the cross that led to the opener and was nowhere to be found on the second goal.
Gregore (6) — Delivered a solid outing in which he made several defensive interventions, though his ability to put out fires diminished as he tired late on.
Indiana Vassilev (4) — Had energy and desire, but looked uncomfortable playing more tucked in before struggling with his touch in the second half.
Blaise Matuidi (4) — Another subpar display that highlighted a lack of defensive awareness, primarily on the second goal when he tracked back far too casually.
Gonzalo Higuain (3) — His poor touch while receiving a throw-in led to the second goal and he was largely unthreatening, though he passed well to help generate sequences.
Robbie Robinson (1) — A nightmare blunder on a clear 1-on-1 opportunity raised questions about his confidence and defined his latest ineffective showing up top.
Brek Shea (5) — Serviceable off the bench, making contributions on both sides of the ball during his 34-minute shift.
Julian Carranza (4.5) — Unable to provide much up top after entering the game midway through the second half.
Federico Higuain (4.5) — Tried to find the ball to make things happen when in possession, but the substitute lacked precision and quality in this one.
Jay Chapman (N/A) — Finished with just two touches after coming on in the 87th minute.
Phil Neville (2) — The team put up a decent tactical showing for the first 35 minutes, but things fell apart after Robinson’s shocking gaffe. The subsequent changes made to try and get back into the game only led to more spaces in behind and next to nothing in the attack.
