Preseason: Inter Miami 2-2 Austin FC
The South Florida side rallied to take a second-half lead before a late golazo ended the friendly at Drv Pnk Stadium in a stalemate
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Inter Miami looked like it was going to end preseason on a winning note after rallying from a goal down on Saturday, but a gorgeous finish in the dying minutes changed the script.
Corentin ‘Coco’ Jean and Rodolfo Pizarro sparked a temporary second-half comeback for Inter Miami before Austin FC used an 86th-minute golazo from teenager Owen Wolff to end Saturday afternoon’s friendly in a 2-2 stalemate.
Jean and Pizarro had scored seven minutes apart at Drv Pnk Stadium to push the South Florida side in front in the final tune-up ahead of the new MLS campaign, but Wolff delivered the Austin FC equalizer by curling his late effort from the left into the top right corner.
The draw saw Inter Miami finish preseason with a 1-2-4 record and -7 goal differential.
Up next for Inter Miami is its 2023 MLS season opener, which takes place at home on Feb. 25 against fellow Eastern Conference side CF Montreal.
