Robbie Robinson returns to Inter Miami training
The winger is practicing again, but his availability for the game vs. NYCFC is in doubt
Robbie Robinson is back in training with Inter Miami, but he still may not suit up for this weekend’s match.
Inter Miami head coach Phil Neville on Thursday provided an update on Robinson, who missed this past weekend’s 2-1 win vs. Nashville SC with what was labeled by the team as a “head injury.” Neville said Robinson returned to practice on Thursday morning, but that the winger might remain out of the gameday roster for Saturday’s clash against New York City FC.
“Robbie is dealing with just a bang to the head,” said Neville. “He has gone through the MLS concussion protocol. He is out of that now, so that is good. It is good he is back in training with us today in a light session.
“With any concussion injury, you have got to take every precaution and we are not going to take any risk with that. It is good to have him back.”
Robinson, 22, suffered a blow in the second half of the 1-1 draw with rivals Orlando City on Aug. 4. He was forced out of that game in the 60th minute after receiving medical attention from Inter Miami staff.
The young attacker has been a first-choice option for Neville this year when available, but staying healthy has proven difficult. Robinson suffered a series of pesky injuries to the same hamstring during the opening months of the season that limited his participation.
Robinson has started in seven of the nine games he has played in for 12th-placed Inter Miami this season, scoring two goals.
