Sources: Clement Diop trialing with Inter Miami
The former CF Montreal goalkeeper joined the South Florida side in training this week
There is a new face at Inter Miami camp.
Sources have told Miami Total Futbol that experienced MLS goalkeeper Clement Diop has joined Inter Miami on trial this week. Diop was most recently with CF Montreal, which played home games in South Florida for a stretch this season, but he mutually agreed to part ways with the Canadian side last month.
The 27-year-old shot-stopper’s arrival might explain Inter Miami’s most recent move. The Herons sent reserve netminder Dylan Castanheira on loan to San Diego Loyal SC late last week, leaving Nick Marsman, John McCarthy, and Drake Callender as the three goalkeepers still in market.
Diop, who was born in France but represented Senegal’s national team earlier in his career, started in each of the eight games he appeared in for CF Montreal this year. He posted three cleansheets in those matches.
Last season was his standout campaign with the MLS side, as he got the nod in each of CF Montreal’s 20 games en route to making the playoffs. He also posted three shutouts during that stretch.
Previously, Diop played for the LA Galaxy. He has also suited up for US Camon and Amiens in his career.
