Sources: Inter Miami in talks to loan Emerson Rodriguez to Liga MX club

There were some notable absences from Inter Miami’s match-day roster on Saturday, and one of those is because there is a looming move being worked out with a club south of the border.
Inter Miami is in talks to loan Colombian winger Emerson Rodriguez to a Liga MX side, sources told Miami Total Futbol. Rodriguez was one of several first-team players that did not dress in Saturday night’s international friendly vs. Vasco da Gama, and sources say it is because the 22-year-old attacker has left South Florida to put the finishing touches on a move to Mexico.
La Rosanegra did not initially provide an official reasoning for Rodriguez’s absence on Saturday.
Rodriguez is one of several attacking weapons that Inter Miami head coach Phil Neville has heading into the 2023 season, but the glut of options at positions in advanced parts of the field are poised to leave the youngster with limited playing time.
A 2022 signing who has a contract through the 2025 campaign, Rodriguez made just one MLS start in 22 appearances last year. He totaled 508 minutes in those matches, scoring two goals.
Some of the other players who were missing from Inter Miami’s match-day squad and not previously listed as injured were Kieran Gibbs and Victor Ulloa.
