Sources: Luis Suarez missed Inter Miami's loss vs Minnesota United to attend relative's wedding in Spain
Head coach Javier Mascherano had said that the Uruguayan's potential absence was due to "personal reasons"
Out-of-form striker Luis Suarez missed Inter Miami’s latest defeat this past weekend due to what the team had cited as personal reasons.
Well, those personal reasons turned out to be a relative’s wedding in another country.
Sources have told Miami Total Futbol that Suarez missed Inter Miami’s 4-1 road loss to Minnesota United on Saturday because he attended his brother-in-law’s wedding in Spain that same day.
Sources added that the 38-year-old Uruguayan and Inter Miami had well in advance arranged and agreed for him to be absent on that date so that he could be present in the family affair.
Mired in a poor start to the season, Suarez has been the subject of heavy criticism due to his level of play. The veteran center forward recently went nine games across all competitions without a goal, but ended that scoring drought in the 4-1 home win over the New York Red Bulls on May 3.
In total in 2025, Suarez has scored five times in 17 matches across all competitions. He has delivered eight assists.
Suarez signed a new contract with Inter Miami this past winter, agreeing to a one-year extension that runs through the end of the season.
